Bachelorette Party!!!!!
"Honey, it isn't anything I haven't said, heard, or done."
*Jessie's mom to Jessie at the Bachelorette Party*
Oh my, what a memorable weekend this has been. One of my best friends from high school, Jessie, is getting married on July 27th to a wonderful 'Prince Charming.' Last night was her Bachelorette party and OH what a time with had!! Jessie's mom was the appointed DD for the night...which means, she was there for the party and went to all the bars with us. It took all of us a little bit to get used to a mom being present, but we soon realized, she fit in quite well. The details of the party may not be revealed as we said "what happens with us, stays with us!!" (We've had this motto since high school). Jessie (with the veil), Me, & Ellen (to the right of me in the picture) have been good friends since high school days---we've been through a lot, gotten each other through a lot, and most of all, had one helluva time together. This morning Ellen, Sara, and I were talking about how Jessie getting married is so bittersweet. We are so happy she found the man of her dreams and is happy, but a selfish part of us is sad because she'll be moving away and our days of just going and doing our thing are over. This brought me to a BIG realization---we're growing up. Gone are the days of high school football games, scooping the loop downtown, and going here and there whenever we please. We now how jobs, and responsibilities to tend to before our fun. I guess this is the 'real' world everyone warned us about---I don't think I am as prepared for it as I thought. I loved my college years and I miss the fun of high school---but how nice it is to know that a few from each of those times will be there on this next step. We have vowed to help each other through the transitions as we enter this 'real' world. It is time for big decisions, like where to live, who to marry, what job to take--gone are the days of worrying about what to wear, who is dating who, and what movie shall we see next. YES, there will ALWAYS be time for our girl fun, but as we move farther and farther in distance the 'everydayness' of our friendships will shift and become cherished visits now and then.
I couldn't be more happy for Jessie. I know there will be tears in the Church as she walks down the aisle, the first one of us, to make the leap into marriage. She and Chris are a perfect couple and I hope that the years bring them so much happiness. Once again, the theme of commitment is ever so present. Bachelorette parties are SO MUCH FUN---I wish I could relive last night---but the wedding is a guaranteed blast for sure. Here's to all our friends and all the paths we'll follow---knowing that in 'all journeys combined' we travel them together!
