Anything essential is invisible to the eyes."
*The Little Prince*
The Christmas time brings many things; chaos in malls, last minute scurrying to wrap presents, and worrying about getting all the cooking done--but besides the hustle and bustle, it brings a heartfelt peace when we allow ourselves to take the time to really think of what this season really means. Christmas is a time to remember our faith--to remember that God sent his son to us to save us all--a time to remember the goodness of it all and to be grateful for it. I've been very aware this Christmas season of all the things that are 'invisible to the eyes.' Life is quickly changing around me, in many aspects, and during change one becomes even more aware of their faith; faith that change cannot be avoided and all will be well.
The Little Prince is very near and dear to my heart--Julia taught me some of The Little Prince--she loved the book and said it was filled with valuable lessons. We did not get much time with it before she got sick, but she gave me her copy and it rests right by my bedside where I can read it often--with it's words of wisdom and reminders of what really matters in life.
As the days go on I become more and more aware that one can only truly know the answers if they allow themselves to be still; to settle into their heart. I'll be the first to admit that this is not always easy for me to do--I'm an extrovert and I love to be around people and it is struggle at times to just 'be' alone in the quiet--but I am growing--I am learning the importance of stillness--the importance of looking inward at one's heart and it is amazing how the answers seem to be there--and with those answers, a sense of peace. The battle is learning to find the balance between 'aloneness' and being with others.
May this Christmas season bring everyone the ability to savor the silence every now and then and listen deeply toyour heart where the peace lies.
Lots of love!

"For you my soul in stillness waits. Truly you alone are my God." Sometimes the learniing to be still is like encountering anything new forthe first time, but think about fod for instance. How does one ever aquire the taste for the sour or bitter things like maurgaritas or lemonade or tarter sauce and so on? We have to try it. When I was a child we made fun of a commercial that did a very exagerated line that said in a high nasal kind of voice, "Try it , you'll like it." Sometmes we just have to try it in order to find what might be there, often times we will surprise ourselves and like what we find. Mostly we all have more depth than we ever give ourselves credit for having.
