a man must have two fathers to look after him, and thats why they have godfathers" -
Some exciting news--my Aunt & Uncle (Godparents) are pregnant with twins. They are due in July and it is quite exciting. They will make wonderful parents--I know this because they have already made wonderful Godparents. I was blessed--I came to a college where my Uncle worked. He never pushed me to come here, but encouraged me to just take a look--I did and decided to go here that very same day! For four years, it has been wonderful. They live in Weatherby Lake, which is only about 40 minutes from school--as a result, I've been able to spend quite a bit of time with them, and it has been wonderful. I get to see my Uncle several times a week when I pop my head in his office, or have lunch dates with him, or at least talk on the phone. My Uncle John is my dad's brother--which makes the quote above so much more fun since we are Italian! (Smile) He constantly encourages me to do what will make me happy, try new things, and go for it. He never hovered over me, checked up on me (that I know of--Smile), or restricted me from living a college life. But, he was always there when I needed him, or needed away from campus. I spent many weekends at their house--writing papers at their kitchen table, using their washing machine, and enjoying the Discovery Health Channel on their television. These four years would not have been as wonderful without them. One of the most difficult things for me will be to say goodbye to popping my head into my Uncle's office to say 'hi.' He is a wonderful man--his ability to financially turn a school around has amazed me--I feel an overwhelming sense of pride to be able to say "that's my uncle." As a niece, he has been a shining example of generosity, strength, and love. I am forever grateful for the time I have with him and the relationship we have grown to have. What a unique gift to have with your Godfather. He will be a wonderful father. He will be completely devoted to his twins, giving them unconditional love, and a listening ear, he's already had practice with me! ;0) How wonderful it has been to have a godfather so involved in my life--especially my college years. From dollhouse to dorm room, he's been through it all with me. I cannot wait to see those babies---to have additions to the McClaflin family. I guess, in a way I feel like I'm getting "godsiblings," I hope I can be half of an example to them as he has been for me. Please say prayers for them, that everything goes well for my Aunt and the "Peanuts" (as we call them). So far everything is going wonderfully, prayers for the continuation of a safe and healthy pregnancy and babies would be appreciated by all.
