"Where did the ship go when she got sick?"--
"To the doc."
This was my favorite joke when I was younger. Halloween has always been a favorite of mine. There is something about being able to dress up, tell stupid jokes, and be silly and no one looks at you funny that is marvelous! This is the first Halloween I have not dressed up in my 21 years. It's a sad day, a realization that I am growing up--but oh how happy I will be when the little ones come to the door tonight to get candy--YAY! I love their silly jokes and I love their costumes--Halloween makes me happy.
I have many fond memories of Halloween. My brother and I would always dress up. He was much older than I was, so he went and took me around (most of the time) to get candy. I would argue all day with my parents because I didn't want to have to wear a coat under my costume (in Iowa there was usually snow on the ground or freezing temps on Halloween) and I hated the bulkiness and being restricted--the argument would continue until it was time to walk out the door and I always had to wear the darn coat or they wouldn't let me go! (smile) Cruel--I still think! (smile)
We always had a Halloween musical at my grade school---it was called "A Halloween Night" and everyone wore costumes. It was ALWAYS a blast and I remember how excited S. Vicki (our music teacher) was about it and how much she in enthused all of us for the play--it was great. I can still think of some of the words and actions today.
It's funny how days like this remind you of when you were little and how things used to be. They are good memories--memories that are fun to share. I wish I had my photo albums here to look at all my Halloween costumes and how my brother used to dress up too--FUN! :) I hope everyone is having a spectacular Halloween. Enjoy the little one's jokes, laugh when they aren't funny, and even if you know the answer pretend you don't---it gives them joy to make you laugh! :) I'm off to Microbiology class---
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
